Large Bowls to Start New Year

1/7/2018

This is the beginning of a new year, 2018! I've decided its time to explore new techniques, something I did start last year, but want to continue whole heartedly. Looking at peoples' work on Instagram and websites has given me a huge source of inspiration, ideas on combining techniques in form and glaze decoration in a way that shows my style.
Last week I began with large bowls, some 14 inches wide. Of course they will shrink about 12% in the kiln, but still, I am very happy with them. I spent a lot of time trimming them so that they are balanced and not heavy. A few have white or green slip on the inside, and I am anxious to see how they will react with my glazes.
